The VCM-600 from Vestax is a first-rate MIDI control surface that was designed with the needs of the most demanding digital DJ in mind. It provides the user with 160 controls, six channels of dedicated EQ knobs, kill buttons, filters, clip launch buttons, sends, returns, panning, and more. When used with Ableton Live software, all of the (re-assignable) controls on the VCM-600 instantly map to Ableton's DJ-related parameters and carry out functions that are clearly labeled beside each fader and knob. Better yet, with two selectable banks, users ultimately have double the amount of visible knobs and faders at their disposal to assign to virtually any task they wish to perform within most audio software (not just Ableton).

While MIDI controllers tend to be constructed like plastic toys, the Vestax VCM-600 represents the other end of the spectrum. In fact, the construction of the metal chassis and each knob, fader, and illuminated button is of such unusual quality for a MIDI controller that you may even mistake its feel, not to mention its layout, for a well built analog mixer.
